The main raw material used in Moomin Baby diapers, cellulose, is fully biodegradable. Other materials, such as non-woven fibres, are also used, but these are not biodegradable.

There is currently no fully biodegradable disposable diaper on the market, but the share of biodegradable raw materials is increasing and new, more environmentally responsible raw materials are being developed.

When considering the environmental impact of diapers, the whole life cycle of the diaper, from raw material to manufacture and disposal, must be taken into account. Moomin Baby diapers are now 100% carbon neutral. Moomin Baby diapers are made from carefully selected, clean and safe raw materials. We also always try to choose Nordic suppliers of raw materials. Only less than 1% of needed raw materials come outside of Europe. The domestic cellulose used in our Moomin Baby diapers is completely chlorine-free, as the cellulose we use is bleached with 100% pure oxygen. This is the safest solution for both the environment and your baby’s skin.

It should also be noted that almost no waste treatment plants accept biowaste containing human excreta. The reason for this is the safety of the staff of the waste treatment plant. Moomin Baby diapers are chlorine-free and can therefore be disposed of as energy waste.

The finished diapers are packed in a 60% recycled plastic packaging bag, which you can sort for plastic recycling.
