Diaper rash is usually the result of many factors. The term diaper rash is known as irritant rash caused by fecal matter and urine, which is also affected by the child’s diet or changes in it. The frequency of diaper changes is also an important factor, and the diaper should be changed about 5-6 times a day, so that the child’s sensitive skin is not in contact with pee or fecal matter for too long. However, it should be remembered that diaper rash or reddening of the skin in the diaper area can occur even if you are very careful. A skin reaction can also sometimes be caused by diarrhoea or a medical treatment, in which case it is a good idea to remember to change the diaper more often in a day. Feces, especially diarrhoea, contain various skin irritants that cause skin irritation and diaper rash.

Moomin Baby diapers are made of breathable materials, which allows the skin to breathe better even during diaper use. Our diapers also meet the very strict criteria set by the Allergy, Skin and Asthma Federation and the Nordic Swan Ecolabel for the materials used in the manufacture of diapers.

The best way to avoid diaper rash is to give your baby air baths, which means letting your child go without a diaper for a few hours during the day. It is also important to let the skin dry before putting on a new diaper. Diaper rash should be treated with appropriate creams and if the skin is very irritated and red, we recommend a visit to the doctor so that a professional can check that the skin is not inflamed.

Also remember to wean your baby from diapers sooner rather than later. This is important both for the baby’s skin as well as for the environmental stress caused by the diapers.
